Clothes Make The Man

I'm going through Dad's clothes today as the Disabled American Vets will come on Tuesday for a pickup.

I bought him some very nice sweaters and shirts over the years, but never saw him wear most of them.  When I asked him once where they were, he showed me a box on the wooden trunk that sat at the end of his bed.  They were all there with the price tags still attached.

Too good to wear for everyday, I suppose.

The ones he did wear, however, were definitely well worn.  He also saved a lot of water and detergent by washing his clothes very infrequently.

And being an old farm boy, he thought a bath should be taken once a month, if at all.  He didn't think he needed one most of the time because he wasn't caked with dirt.

He got quite tired of, and irritated with, me saying, "Oh, Dad!"

I did throw away the nastiest of his every day clothes.  :)
